How 4 (Brave) ELLE Editors Style Kim Kardashian's Go-To Skintight Wolford Dress

If we had to guess which piece of clothing in Kim Kardashian's closet gets the most use, it would be the Wolford Fatal dress. Except it wouldn't be a guess, it would pretty much just be...fact.

Not only has Kim shown off just how versatile the seamless tube can be for her (a skirt? a dress? both?), she also proselytizes to her famous friends about its awesomeness, getting pals like Chrissy Teigen to add the $215 piece to their closets. But how easy could it actually be to wear such a skin-tight item day-in, day-out? Here, 4 ELLE.com editors find out, styling the dress for the streets of New York:

Deputy Editor Sally Holmes layers a T-shirt and leather jacket over her Wolford dress.

"I'm no stranger to Kim's second-skin, body-on-display dressing ways, but the Wolford dress is next-level. On its own, the dress is an unapologetic, leave-nothing-to-the-imagination fancy sausage casing. The cloth tube requires confidence—lots of confidence—to wear as an item of actual clothing you'd leave the house in, but as a layering piece, it's kind of a game changer. Since, again, this is a piece of sausagey fabric holding in (ish) my bod, it looked and felt better on me when it was doubled and folded over itself and paired with a looser item on top. Worn with a big sweater or a T-shirt and leather jacket, I felt much more comfortable in the thing, and I'd definitely wear this as a skirt with sneakers for a casual hang. The downside? That shit hikes up. Like, what was a semi-tasteful just-above-the-knee lewk in my head (and when I left the office to take these pics!) transformed into full Pretty Woman–level mini after walking three blocks." — Sally Holmes, Deputy Editor

Social Media Manager Gena Kaufman wears the Wolford Fatal Dress as a skirt.

"When I first saw the Wolford dress in person, I spent the next 12 hours in a panicked frenzy at the idea of wearing what is basically a body stocking made of thin tights. My lack of naked selfies on Instagram is a pretty good indicator that I lack Kim Kardashian's fearless confidence, so I did not feel prepared to put my regular-person, non-Kardashian bod on that much display. I don't mind a body-con look generally, but the Wolford dress's lack of structure revealed all my lumps, bumps, underwear lines, cellulite, and probably even a few large freckles. However, once I realized you could double the dress over into a skirt, the game was changed. I paired my makeshift tube skirt with a turtleneck bodysuit and a leather jacket, and it transformed into an outfit I actually felt pretty great in. The skirt is a little difficult to walk in, but it's also so soft that it's like wearing a big hug for your hips. Frankly, I'd sleep in this dress, it's that comfortable. Senior Beauty and Fitness Editor Julie Schott transforms the Wolford Fatal into a minidress.

"The unadulterated Wolford body stocking is so many things—a snood, a sleeping bag, a sleeve—and I experimented with all of the above iterations. But when Nikki asked for real styling, I wasn't sure what to do. My daily uniform is more Kanye than Kim. The only time I wear body-con anything is at the gym! Nikki suggested halving the skin-tight tube and throwing an oversized silk bomber on top. Since one thing Kim and I have in common is our height, I swapped my go-to sneakers for super high heels. As someone who rotates the same three looks, adding a new multipurpose piece to the mix makes perfect sense. It made me feel like a sexy sausage. Was my hemline choice office appropriate? No. Does Kim (or Kanye) play by the rules? NO. So why should I?" — Julie Schott, Senior Beauty and Fitness Editor

Senior Fashion Editor Nikki Ogunnaike teams her Wolford Fatal dress with a duster coat, Kim Kardashian style.

"As the editor on this story I kind of felt like a jackass for forcing my work friends to participate, but I felt it was really important to show the Wolford Fatal on various body types. When I first saw the dress, I'll admit I was fairly apprehensive. I have boobs and a butt and wasn't sure it would even fit. Furthermore, I like my body just fine, but that doesn't mean I was ready for all of Midtown New York City to see it. But then I thought, WWKD (What Would Kim Do)? and tossed on my AYR robe coat and created what I think would be a Kardashian-approved look. Since we did this shoot outside, I was slightly self-conscious, but I tried to block out the stares. I generally prefer a more casual approach to dressing, but enjoyed getting this glam. I get why this piece is Kim's go-to. It's sexy, easy to put on, and hella comfortable. Wins all around." — Nikki Ogunnaike, Senior Fashion Editor
